Fishers Public Library
The
Hamilton East Public Library systems is actually
comprised of two fantastic facilities. The
first is located in Fishers, while the second is
located in Noblesville. Patrons are free to
use both facilities. Additionally, membership
allows patrons the opportunity to have materials
shipped from one to the other rather than making the
drive themselves.
In
addition to books, the library also loans items like
DVD's, music CD's, books on tape or CD's, magazines,
pamphlets, newspapers, CD-ROM's, slide projectors, telecaptioning devices, telecommunications devices,
and Polaroid cameras. For a current list of

Not only does the Fishers library have a plethora of
books on hand, but the library staff is able
to locate materials not currently owned. The
staff will happily locate any of the following
materials:
- Books
- Photocopies of magazine articles
- Dissertations and theses
- Books on audiotape
- Nonfiction videotapes
- Microfilm
There is a nominal fee for this service which covers the cost of handling and transportation. Library members are limited to 5 active requests at any given time. These interlibrary loans typically take 2-3 weeks to arrive. However, this time frame and limit does not apply to transferring materials in-between the Noblesville and Fishers libraries.
However, the library has a lot more to offer than
just material rental. There are a ton of
activities, classes and programs for everyone to
enjoy.
- Craft-a-Story is a program offered on Saturday in which craft ideas and supplies are provided so families can work on their crafts together. This event occurs from 10:00-12:00.
- Draw-a-Story is for ages four through eight. Children are introduced to story time followed by supervised drawing time. This program meets Thursdays at 4:30 pm.
- Toddler Time is a program for those three and younger. Each session may include stories, songs, finger plays, crafts, or other activities. A caregiver is to attend with the child(ren). This program is available Monday-Wednesday at 11 am, and Thursday at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m, and 2:00 p.m.
- Story Time is for children from four to six years old. This time is for songs, finger plays, stories, crafts and other activities. Story time is available Monday and Tuesday from 10:00-2:00, Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., and Wednesday at 2:00 pm.
- School age programs are for children in 1st through 4th grade. These programs focus on stories, activities, and crafts.
- Summer reading program is offered each an every summer. Everyone from babies to adults can participate in this wildly popular program. The program runs from June through July. There are opportunities to collect prizes and words of encouragement. Over 6,000 participants take advantage of this great opportunity to not only get prizes, but share the joy of reading with others. Prizes range from books to coupons to restaurants.
- Computer classes are free and cover a variety of topics including Windows, Macintosh, Internet, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Excel.
- Literacy program is the only program of its kind in central Indiana. There are various programs such as one-on-one tutoring, adult basic education, English literacy/English as a second language, life skills, and GED tutoring.
- Mobile outreach offers homebound delivery and onsite programming.
- HEPL happenings newsletter current is available in .pdf format.

- General reference center offers a magazine and newspaper index.
- Newsbank infoweb displays regional and national newspaper text and wire services.
- NoveList is an electronic readers' advisory resource that can be used to help locate new fiction authors or titles.
- Reference USA is a resource containing phone numbers and addresses.
- Heritage quest is a genealogy database with primary source materials, local, and family histories.
- Inspire is a magazine index with resources including a biography index and Medline access.
- World book online is an online encyclopedia.
The Fishers library is located in the Thomas Weaver
Memorial Complex on Municipal dr. just North of
116th street.
The hours of operation are:
Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am to 9:00 pm
Friday-Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm
Sunday, 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm
