Located
in the southern area of Morgan County, Martinsville
Indiana is just 30 miles south of Indianapolis.
Martinsville is the county seat for Morgan County
and has been nicknamed as the “Gateway to the
South.”
The Spa Treatment
In
the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, mineral springs
were discovered in Martinsville Indiana. This gave
rise to many spas. Before long, it was called the
Artesian City known for having healing waters. The
Martinsville High School’s mascot has been named the
Artesians after these spas.
Attractions
Morgan County Fair:
Martinsville has hosted the Morgan County Fair since
the 1860’s. It is held during the first full week
of August. The fair features a horse show, horse
and tractor pulls, calf round-ups, a rodeo, 4-H
competitions, and exhibits.

Fall Foliage Festival:
The Fall Foliage Festival is held during the month
of October. Its parade has been reported as the
second largest parade in the state. There are
several events and attractions including a harvest
market, horseshoe tournament, art show, and a
carnival.
