Mounds State Park is located east of Anderson, Indiana and is one of Indiana’s smallest, yet most popular state parks. The land was donated in 1930 by the Madison County Historical Society, and has been enjoyed by nature buffs and archaeologists ever since. Throughout the park are trails leading through some of the most fascinating ancient mounds in all of Indiana – some of which date back to 160 – 150 B.C. Some archaeologists believe these re burial mounds, while others believe they were used for religious or astronomical purposes.

Mounds State Park also includes picnic tables, a swimming pool, fishing, and camping. There is a visitor center with a bird viewing room and interpretive naturalists, or nature guides, on staff. These educators will help visitors get a more fulfilling experience from the park around them.
