In 1834, three Quakers from North Carolina, Ambrose Osborne, Asa Bales, and Nathan Parker, founded Westfield Indiana.  It is believed that the town was founded to become a stop on the Underground Railroad for many Quaker and Wesleyan Methodist church families who supported the cause.
