The self-proclaimed food ambassadors from south of the border, Abuelo’s Mexican Food Embassy, really knows how to solidify diplomatic negotiations: through the estomago, of course!
Abuelo’s is a vastly popular Mexican restaurant chain with two locations in greater Indianapolis, one in the fast-growing suburb of Carmel, Indiana, and another in the northwest corner of the metropolis due south of Zionsville. This friendly and energetic restaurant in Northwest Indianapolis offers up traditional Mexican cuisine that is always full of flavor, fragrance and fun.
People rave about the atmosphere at Abuelo’s Mexican Food Embassy as much as they rave about the food. It’s the friendliness of the staff, really, that permeates throughout the whole place and flavors the air with a colorful spice, just like the dishes they serve. Training and professionalism are paramount at Abuelo’s. They work to collect outstanding staff members who will merge as a unit to create an extraordinary and memorable dining experience for every guest who comes through the door.
In Mexico, food is important, but family and community are even more important. The folks at Abuelo’s take this concept into their many restaurants, now branching out through the United States. Community involvement brings the culture of Abuelo’s Mexican Food Embassy into the culture of Indianapolis and seeks to find a mutually beneficial meeting ground. To that end, every Abuelo’s restaurant follows a set program that entails “adopting” a local school and supporting them by backing their local events.
To further their ambassadorial quest, Abuelo’s creates a uniquely Mexican decor by using distinctive murals, paintings, statues and artifacts, all in the Mexican style, to enhance their warm, irresistible courtyard design. Everywhere you look in this delightful restaurant in Northwest Indianapolis, you will see hand-picked Mexican eye-candy, such as the colorful murals on the wall, replicas of famous murals from the 1920s, 30s and 40s.
Abuelo’s food, as you might imagine by now, is likewise purely Mexican. The best of this wonderful cuisine is all here, from Abuelo’s famous dip sampler with three fantastic dips for the super-thin tortilla chips, to the sumptuous grilled chicken salad a la Mexicana, to the fabulous fajitas such as marinated fajita steak, chicken and shrimp.
House specialties are simply to die for at Abuelo’s Mexican Food Embassy, or at least to come back for again and again. Try the succulent bacon-wrapped beef tenderloin medallions, wood-grilled, a real favorite in upscale Mexican dining establishments. Or perhaps you would prefer something a bit more exotic, such as the Chile Manzanillo, which is a roasted poblano chile stuffed to the brim with sweet white crab and then covered with a creamy lobster, shrimp and scallops sauce. Delicioso.
Desserts are a real adventure too at Abuelo’s. The most traditional delights are all on the menu, from the Tres Leches cake to the mouth-watering flan. Ask for Kahlua with your coffee, to cap everything off right.
Abuelo’s has a children’s menu, a seniors menu and a bar menu that won’t quit. They also offer special party packs and catering, too.
In Mexico, abuelo means grandfather. When you eat at Abuelo’s, you will feel as if you were taken into the arms of a trusted family member and given a big, big hug. And then you’ll go home and become an ambassador yourself.
