El Meson Restaurant and Cantina is an Mexican restaurant and bar so festive and authentic you will think you suddenly woke up South of the Border. In the greater metropolitan Indianapolis area, there are four El Meson Indianapolis restaurants, one due south of Zionsville in the northwestern corner of Indianapolis, one in the southwestern suburb of Plainfield, one in the South Indy suburb of Greenwood and one a little farther to the southeast in Shelbyville, one of the most remote of the many Indianapolis suburbs. Outside the metropolis, about 60 miles northwest in Lafayette, the last El Meson branch can be found on an easy drive up the Interstate 65.
One can easily see that El Meson has the four corners of the Circle City well covered. El Meson Restaurant and Cantina has garnered many awards and nominations, the most recent being one of the “Best Businesses in Indianapolis,” quite a feat, especially when the business focuses on food and service. This family business invites you to drop by and see what the fuss is all about.
The minute you walk in, you are surrounded by the sights, aromas and sounds of Old Mexico. Every piece of the colorful dining furniture has been painted with big flowers, a signature image for the country. Primary colors on a homogenous, vibrant palate work well with the cream-colored walls and wheat-colored tile floors. On the walls are wonderful pieces of bright art and a vivid mural of the homeland, framed by tall, wide arches and luscious lighting.
Speaking of luscious. Do you ever get the yearning for juicy fajitas, enchiladas hot from the oven or a gigantic burrito? We know you do. But once you’re there, try El Meson‘s house specialties, like the Mexican Pizza, the Carnitas, the Camarones a la Diabla or the Chimichanga Acapulco. A lot of people don’t know that you can get some fabulous, mouth-watering steaks at El Meson, too. Their steak and shrimp dish one of the most popular, but you’ll love the Steak Tampiqueno and others, too.
El Meson offers nearly 30 different scrumptious combination dinners to please every palate. What a great place to take the family and a great way to try something of everything. Beer, wine and, of course, margaritas are the drinks of choice for the adults in your group at any Mexican restaurant, and El Meson offers a delightful variety to choose from. The cantina stays open until 3:00 a.m., or longer on Saturdays, when people gather from miles around to enjoy Salsa Night.
Enjoy the flavors of Old Mexico from the four corners of Indianapolis at this restaurante fantastico. You can be sure there’s an El Meson right around the corner from you.
