The Fogo de Chão Churrascaria is a delightfully different Brazilian steakhouse smack in the middle of downtown Indianapolis. One of the best restaurants in Indianapolis, this is a new addition to the Fogo de Chão collection of steak houses that have sprung up across the country to please carnivorous connoisseurs. The secret, they say, is in the Gaucho chefs’ style of fire-roasting the prime cuts of meat they use. But there is much more to this interesting dining establishment.
“Continuous service” is the watchword at the Fogo de Chão Restaurant. Diners have the opportunity of sampling unlimited servings of some fifteen distinct cuts of meat, each lovingly prepared to their apex of succulent glory. The guests have complete control over the service through the use of red and green disks, which they display at their tables. Red means enough for a while, and green means go, go go.
It’s not all meat at the Fogo de Chão, though that is unquestionably their forte. A beautifully-displayed buffet of dozens of fresh vegetables, salads and side dish specialties from Brazil is constantly replenished for your complete satisfaction and delight. Try the fried bananas, warm cheese bread and aromatic mashed potatoes before you fill up on the delicious meat.
The new Beef Ancho and the popular Picanha dishes are some favorites, and they say you have not really lived until you’ve tasted the Frango (chicken drumsticks wrapped in bacon), and the Cordiero, which is fresh, young, juicy lamb cooked the Brazilian way.
The Fogo de Chão Restaurant boasts an award-winning wine list to go along with their exquisite food, as well as some intriguing Brazilian beverages. If you have it in you, dessert, the height of Fogo de Chão decadence, should not be missed.
