St. Elmo’s Steakhouse Restaurant, smack in the middle of downtown Indianapolis since the year 1902, has a well-deserved reputation for excellent fare and service. St. Elmo’s services not only major sports teams but also other stars, from musicians to business leaders. Their “Wall of Fame” attests to over a century of popularity. With an upper-class atmosphere and food to match, this Indianapolis restaurant is likely to be around for quite some time to come.
When the super-popular Circle Centre Mall appeared in 1996, the atmosphere in St. Elmo’s Steakhouse Restaurant took on a different tinge. Before 1996, the steakhouse had been something of a haven for businessmen, athletic celebrities and politicians. The downtown Indianapolis restaurant became more casual and comfortable after the mall went up, thanks in large part to a multi-million dollar renovation and expansion.
A new kitchen, larger and visible from the bar, two new private rooms for dining, a greatly enlarged bar and foyer area, an award-winning wine cellar and more space in the entry room are the changes wrought to bring St. Elmo’s up to date and into the hearts of Indy residents. Subsequent expansions created even more room for private dining areas for large groups and special occasions. Today’s St. Elmo Steak House honors its past by maintaining its traditional atmosphere, professional service and outstanding refined menu. Our goal is to create unforgettable memories for you — our guest.
“St. Elmo’s is world renowned for it’s Shrimp Cocktail Appetizer. The shrimp are always enormous and the sauce will knock you out of your chair. The sauce is made with fresh chunky horseradish and definitely not designed for the timid palate.”

The dining room has a special every Sunday consisting of three courses for $30, including the famous shrimp cocktail. A few other items on the regular menu are French Fried Shrimp for about $27, Australian Rack of Lamb for $38, Indiana Amish Chicken at $24 and, of course, many different cuts of steak at a variety of prices.
