The Indiana University – Purdue University (IUPUI) Gymnasium, also known as The Jungle, was constructed in 1982 and now serves as home to IUPUI’s basketball and volleyball teams. Located on the main concourse at the IU Natatorium in downtown Indianapolis, the gym is known for its intimate and artistic setting. It’s one of many great venues in Indianapolis for Indianapolis sports.

Recent renovations in 2007 reduced the building’s seating capacity to 1,215 in order to add significant murals covering the north and south walls. The murals depict legendary and influential players of the past such as IUPUI Hall of Famer Carlos Knox, and Tiffany Kyser and Brooke McAfee of the IUPUI women’s basketball team. The 2003 edition of the IUPUI men’s basketball team is also honored by two photos depicting the university’s first Mid-Continent Conference winners. Former volleyball star Rebekah Pallikan graces the wall in another notable photo.
New seating in the Jungle boasts chair-back modeling, much like that of Conseco Fieldhouse and the new Lucas Oil Stadium. Comfortable and stylish, the new seats provide an up-close look at NCAA Division I competitions.
Commemorative banners hanging from the Jungle’s rafters honor IUPUI’s many championship teams, some dating from the sports program’s NAIA years. Wireless scorecards are located at each end of the gym, and games are announced over a brand new, state-of-the-art sound system. Any visit to Indianapolis is enhanced by a trip to the Jungle.
