Lake Kesslerwood itself consists of an east and west section, separated by a narrow land mass. Many of these spacious homes were built in the 1980s and 1990s, though there are many that are much newer. This is a neighborhood that is also known for a preponderance of custom homes.

The community is home to many watercraft such as pontoons, sailboats, and kayaks, and is also a great place for walking, biking and canoeing. The neighborhood is just a few minutes away from Castleton Square Mall and Glendale Mall, and just a short ways from both Broad Ripple Village and downtown Indianapolis.

Homeowners at Lake Kesslerwood enjoy fishing, boating and even swimming. This is also a very quiet neighborhood, as noisy modes of water transport like motorboats and jet skis strictly forbidden. Pontoon boats, kayaks, canoes and even sailboats, on the other hand, are allowed.

The neighborhood also runs alongside the Fall Creek Greenway, which is nice strolling, jogging, hiking, biking, etc.
